The five labels
Proven, Claimed, Contested, Unknown and All there is: what each one means.
Every value in the book carries one of five labels. They say how sure we are, field by field, never one score for a whole record.
| Proven | Two independent sources agree, or a register says so. |
|---|---|
| Claimed | One source says this and nothing contradicts it. Not proven yet. |
| Contested | Sources disagree. We show you both and change nothing until one wins. |
| Unknown | We hold no evidence, and we never fill a field with a guess. |
| All there is | Nothing further exists for a business of this kind. The record is as good as it can be. |
An email can be Proven while a phone number isn't, and a sole trader is never marked down for having no register to check.
