Email labels
Verified, Catch-all server, No answer and Will not deliver.
Every email address is checked with the receiving mail server and labelled with what the server said.
| Verified | The mail server accepted the address. |
|---|---|
| Catch-all server | The server accepts every address, so nothing can be proven either way. |
| No answer | The server never replied. |
| Will not deliver | The server rejected the address. |
A catch-all or a missing answer doesn't say the address is wrong, so we label it and keep it. You decide whether to send. Two more tags tell you what kind of address it is: Director's own for a named person's mailbox, and Role mailbox for something like hello@ or info@.
Verification is about deliverability, which is a separate question from whether a detail is Proven.
