All there is

Why some records are complete without a company number or a director.

Some kinds of business publish less than others. A sole trader has no company number and no directors. A partnership may have no register entry at all.

When we hold everything that kind of business publishes, the record says so. A record for a limited company reads Complete for a limited company. A record for a sole trader can be complete without a register entry, and we don't mark it down for that.

It's how we avoid treating a one-person business as a poorer record than a company.
